A unique figural brass vesta in the shape of a Skull with an Octopus. The Octopus has red paste stone eyes. The Skull's jaw opens via flip lid at the bottom with strike strip. As smoking became popular during the 19th Century small boxes were produced to store matches which were named Vestas or Match Safes. Vestas were designed to keep matches safe and dry with a strike stip used to light them. This is a beautiful Skull vesta!
