A delightful brass vesta displaying a stunning high relief image of three horses on both sides. The vesta opens via flip lid at the top with strike strip. As smoking became popular during the 19th Century small boxes were produced to store matches which were named Vestas or Match Safes. Vestas were designed to keep matches safe and dry with a strike stip used to light them. This is a beautiful polished brass horse vesta!
