The series of luxurious Faberge Easter eggs was first crafted by Peter Carl Faberge for the Russian Imperial Family. Faberge eggs are limited in their production and truly exquisite one off time pieces. Typically Faberge eggs were composed of solid gold with added decoration such as enamel and diamonds. The story behind the production of these eggs is incredible, with each egg taking a year to complete! Such was the craftsmanship of these eggs it involved a whole team of people to create. Other famous people Faberge eggs were commissioned for includes the Duchess of Marlborough, the Rothschild Family and Yusupovs.
I have been lucky enough to see some of these beautiful Faberge Eggs for myself as there is a collection on display at the lovely Luton Hoo. Luton Hoo is a stately home hotel based in the Bedfordshire countryside. I would recommend a visit there not only to see their wonderful Faberge egg collection but also to try their delicious afternoon tea.
Please take a look at my own collection of Easter Egg trinkets inspired by Faberge. I hope you will agree they would make a decadent Easter gift for somebody.
