Limoges is one of the oldest towns in France. Limoges is known for its production of fine porcelain products. The hand painting and decorating of porcelain priducts was done by approved Artists by the Limoges factory. Limoges produced tableware, bowls, plates, dining sets, trays and vases. They are even more famous for their trinkets and dolls.
In 1768 Kaolin a special white clay was discovered, this was the beginning of Limoges future and the production of fine porcelain. Throughout the 20th Century well known artists were involved in the design and decoration of Limoges porcelain products.
Collectors of limoges are looking for pieces produced from 1700s to the 1930s. They were concerned with quality pieces in good condition. Particular themes and color schemes are more desirable than others.
